What a Geely Actually Costs
Geely prices are quoted as Maximum Retail Price, which includes 15% GST but excludes on-road costs. Here is what that means, and what else to budget for.
MRP
Maximum Retail Price (MRP)
MRP is the maximum price the vehicle itself is sold for. It includes 15% GST. It does not include on-road costs. Your dealer confirms the final price.

ORC
On-Road Costs (ORC)
On-road costs are the charges to get a new vehicle registered and road legal. They are quoted by your dealership, because they vary. They typically cover:
- First registration and number plates
- A warrant or certificate of fitness where applicable
- Pre-delivery inspection and servicing
- A full tank or charge
Ask your dealership for an on-road costs figure in writing before you commit — it is not a fixed national amount.
RUC
Road User Charges
Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles pay road user charges in New Zealand. The rate is set by government and changes, so check the current rate with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi rather than relying on a figure quoted anywhere else.
FINANCE
Finance
Geely finance in New Zealand is provided through UDC. Repayments depend on the amount financed, your deposit, the term and the rate you are approved for, so the only meaningful number is a quote for your situation.
Your dealership can prepare a finance quote, including weekly or fortnightly repayments, alongside your on-road costs.
Finance is subject to UDC's normal lending criteria. Any figures provided are a guide only and do not constitute an offer of finance.
TRADE-IN
Trading in Your Current Car
You can trade your current vehicle in against a new Geely. Your dealership will appraise it and offset the value against the purchase price.
RUNNING COSTS
Running Costs
The purchase price is only part of the picture. Charging cost, servicing and warranty coverage all affect what a Geely costs to own. We've written up the framework and the vehicle inputs you'll need on a dedicated page.
